What is myMPS, and what are the alternatives?
myMPS is Healthbridge's South African practice management and medical billing platform — patient accounts, real-time medical scheme claim submission, benefit checks, remittances and reporting. It is not the Medical Protection Society (MPS), which provides indemnity and medico-legal cover. myMPS or MPS? myMPS (mymps.co.za) is Healthbridge's practice management and billing software. The Medical Protection Society (MPS) is a separate organisation offering professional indemnity and medico-legal support to doctors. This page is about the software.
What practices usually want to know:
- What does myMPS cover? Practice management and medical billing. The clinical record is a separate Healthbridge product, and billing can also be outsourced to their bureau.
- What does the alternative need to do? Run the diary, the patient record, the clinical note, the invoice and the scheme claim in one place, so nothing is re-typed between systems.
- How does HeroMed do that? Before the consultation an AI snapshot summarises the patient's history. During it, the AI Scribe drafts the note for the practitioner to review and sign. From the note you can generate referral letters and other documents, ask AI questions against the patient's notes, and bill in one click with your billing rules applied.
- Is claiming included? Yes — claim submission, scheme responses, remittances and reconciliation are built into HeroMed Core AI, with no separate claiming arrangement to set up.
- Where do I sign in to myMPS? At mymps.co.za. If you only need the login page, nothing needs to change.
- What does moving involve? Ask for your export format in writing; patient records, medical aid details, appointment history and outstanding balances are then migrated, tariffs and note templates set up, and both systems run in parallel for two to four weeks.
