Which practice software handles medical aid claims in South Africa?
HeroMed, GoodX, Healthbridge, Elixir Live and Solumed all handle South African medical aid claims. HeroMed submits real-time medical scheme EDI claims through HeroMed Prime, with remittance handling and reconciliation against the invoice in the same platform that holds the diary and the clinical note.

What "handles claims" should actually mean
Every vendor says they handle claims. Ask them to demonstrate four things:
- Real-time submission. The claim leaves as the patient leaves, not in an overnight batch.
- Validation before submission. Missing ICD-10 codes, tariff mismatches and practice number errors flagged before the scheme rejects them.
- Remittance handling. Remittance advice read automatically and matched to the right invoice.
- Rejection workflow. A queue of rejected claims with the reason attached, so the fix takes minutes rather than a phone call.
How HeroMed does it
HeroMed Prime is the claims product: real-time medical scheme EDI claiming at R1,045 per month including VAT. Because the claim is raised from the same record that holds the consultation note and the invoice, nothing is re-typed between systems, and the reconciliation lands back against the original invoice.
